Here's our Story!

I am a K-5 Teacher-Librarian in Atlanta, GA and I am lucky enough to work with an amazing dreamer. Her name is Mrs Datta and she is a French Canadian so I enjoy her accent all the time!
Mrs Datta holds a privately funded position in our school and she teaches French part time and the rest of her time is spent serving as our computer lab instructor. She and I are always trying to find exciting things to do and one day we had the idea to take the silly puppet pals app and ask the students to address the science standards so that other teachers and students could see that there is much more to this app than meets the eye.
Even though our samples from the showcase are very short animations of between 90 and 120 seconds, the students spent many hours scouring through GALILEO (state of Georgia online database), Discovery Education, and other digital sources. They used a graphic organizer and wrote a script, with many iterations. In the end, the students did not have enough time to feel completely comfortable with their end products and they want to continue to improve them but they were very glad to get practice going through the entire research process. Thanks for watching what Mrs Datta calls "Storytelling with a Science Twist!"
